Before Chris Boutal lent me this manual for scanning, I would have sworn it didn't exist!!! The reason for this is that the death of BAYKO under MECCANO's failed stewardship was always thought to have taken place in 1964, notwithstanding the fact that BAYKO was still advertised in the 1967 MECCANO products price list. |
This Instruction Manual was [definitely?] the last style to be produced by MECCANO for their BAYKO sets #11 to #14, and is date coded March, 1964. Business was sufficiently buoyant to support a print run of 40,000. |
As far as I've been able to observe, there are no differences between this version and its immediate predecessor. |
This manual was also included in set #15 together with the special leaflets for that set... |
There is a slightly different, early version which is best known for the differences in the children on the front cover... |
There are also two earlier versions which are virtually identical, except that they seem to be distinct type-settings... |
It is perhaps a little strange that MECCANO didn't update this manual following the introduction of set #15 with its range of new parts! |
The 24 pages are printed in red, green, yellow and black on white gloss paper. |
Size - 222mm x 190mm = 8.75 x 7.5 inches. |
The use of this manual overlapped with 2 distinct production periods : - |
