Altogether Plimpton printed four issues of the sets #0 to #4 manual, primarily for their flagship BAYKO set - set #4. This particular issue was the last. |
Print coded September, 1959, this 4th issue manual was technically issued after the MECCANO takeover. |
It has a full colour cover, the rest of the 60 pages are printed in red, green and black on white gloss paper. |
Size - 250mm x 185mm = 9.8 x 7.3 inches. |
Number of this version that were printed - 30,000. |

Page 5 is particularly interesting as it makes one of the very few official references to the newly introduced Garage Doors, two of which were included in set #4, plus the T.V. Aerial and the Ramp. |
Pages 6 and 7 in this sets # 0 to 4 manual are unique in including the Garage Doors, T.V. Aerial and Ramp among the set parts' lists. |
Page 6 contains an anomally in that the Ramp is missing from the conversion sets contents list, therefore we cannot be absolutely certain that set #1X actually did contain a Ramp! |
Page 7 also includes an anomaly in that the set #3X shows the inclusion of a T.V. Aerial, which means that those who reached the set #4 heights via the #3X route would have an extra one! |
